Gordon Reid is through to the semi-finals of the Wimbledon wheelchair doubles after winning his quarter-final match alongside teammate Alfie Hewett on Wednesday. The Helensburgh tennis star, who won gold in the wheelchair doubles at the 2014 Commonwealth Games with Hewett, is now just two matches away from defending his Wimbledon title.

Reid and Hewett, who are seeded first in the tournament and have won three Grand Slam wheelchair doubles titles together, beat the French pair of Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer 6-4, 6-2 in their quarter-final match. They will now face the second seeds, Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina and Nicolaas Gillen of the Netherlands, in the semi-finals on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Reid, who is a former world number one in wheelchair tennis, is hoping to add to his Paralympic medal haul in Rio this summer. He won a silver medal in the wheelchair doubles at the London 2012 Paralympics and will be looking to go one better in Rio.
